Guido VALERIO

Professor at Sorbonne Université

Expertises

His scientific research interests involve antenna design and numerical methods for wave propagation and scattering in complex structures; namely, periodic Green’s function computation, modal properties of multilayered structures, full-wave methods for substrate integrated waveguide (SIW), and modeling and design of periodic structures.

Short biography

Guido Valerio received the M.S. degree (cum laude) in electronic engineering and the Ph.D. degree in electromagnetics from La Sapienza University, Rome, Italy, in 2005 and 2009, respectively. From February 2008 to August 2008, he was a Visiting Scholar with the University of Houston, Houston, TX, USA. From 2011 to 2014, he was a Researcher with the Institute d’Electronique et de Télécommunications de Rennes (IETR), Rennes, France. Since September 2014, he has been with Sorbonne Université, Paris, France, where he is currently a Professor with the Laboratoire de Genie Electrique et Electronique de Paris.

He was a coauthor of the Best Papers in electromagnetic and antenna theory at the European Conference on Antennas and Propagation in 2018 and 2020 and the Best Student Paper Award at the 16th European Conference on Antennas and Propagation in 2022.  Dr. Valerio was a recipient of the “Leopold B. Felsen Award for Excellence in Electrodynamics” in 2008, of the “Barzilai Prize” for the Best Paper at the National Italian Congress of Electromagnetism (XVIII RiNEm) in 2010 and of the RMTG Award for junior researchers presented at the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Symposium, Memphis, TN, USA, in 2014.

He is the Main Chair of the COST Action SyMat on “Future communications with higher symmetric engineered artificial materials” and the coordinatorof the MSCA Doctoral Network GENIUS on “Glide-symmetric metamaterials for innovative radio-frequency communication and sensing”. He serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation and IEEE Access journals.
